Canada Post and the Canadian Postal workers union are working with a special mediator to try and hammer out a new collective agreement.
The union issued 72-hour strike notice Thursday as its strike mandate was set to expire.
President of the Campbell River local, Ryan Knight, says he’s not optimistic that a deal will get done this weekend and is expecting job action to start on Monday.
Knight says the union’s goal is to have as little impact on the public as possible.
