Work has begun on the site of the East Courtenay fire training center, as crews began tree cutting and site preparation on Monday.
Director of Financial Services with the City Tillie Manthey says, the highlight of the facility will be the new live fire training building.
Manthey says the live fire building will include artificial smoke and a natural gas simulation, and they’ll literally be able to turn the fire on and off by a switch.
Manthey says the project is slated to be done in May of 2015. She also gives an update on the planned satellite fire hall.
