A change has been made to give the community a voice in the sentencing process in court.
The change is included as part of the Canadian Victim’s Bill of Rights that was brought in by the previous Federal government.
BC Attorney General Suzanne Anton says the change allows different communities to give feedback to a judge about how that crime impacted them.
Anton says the additional information will help the judge create a sentence that accurately reflects the impacts of the crime to the community.
