A couple of residents on Royal Vista Way in the Crown Isle neighborhood in Courtenay are looking to decrease the number of speeders in their area.
Cliff Craig says the speed limit on the street is 50 kilometres per hour.
He notes that a study done has shown that more than 50% of drivers exceed that limit, with a large number going at speeds greater than 60 kilometres an hour.
Craig notes the speeding is dangerous not just for drivers, but cyclists and other road users. Neighbor Brian McKay says speeding has been a problem for some time. He’s hopeful that measures will be taken to solve the issue in a positive manner.

Craig and McKay have presented their case to Courtenay Council, receiving support in the process.
