The 2016 BC Child Poverty Report Card has been released and the grade isn’t very good.
Adrienne Montani with First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition says the report contains a number of recommendations, including calling for a provincial poverty reduction strategy.
Montani says one area of concern that was identified this year is the lack of support for youth who are aging out of the foster care system, which puts those youth at risk of homelessness.
She says the province should look at providing more supports for those children as they head into early adulthood to make sure they are successful through that transition.
