Starting today, passengers of BC Ferries won’t be allowed to stay in their cars if they’re on a closed car deck.
Director of Fleet Operations Darren Johnston says it’s due to safety reasons, but they’ll work with customers if there are any special circumstances.
“These are Transport Canada safety regulations and we’re doing everything we possibly can to try and meet the customer expectations so that if anybody has a special request, then they should bring that to the attention of our ticket booth agent so we can do whatever possible [to accommodate them].”
Ferries is also banning smoking on all of its vessels and at its terminals by January 2018.
