It’s been a tough season for the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.
The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) team lost their first 3 games of the year in September, before picking up a 4-1 against the Westshore Wolves at the Comox Valley Sports Centre on September 15th.
That triumphant victory was followed up with 7 straight losses, before a 6-4 road win against Kerry Park on October 14th.
They’ve since lost their last 2 games, the most recent being a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Campbell River (11-4-1-0) this past Saturday.
The team saw a big change earlier in the year with the hiring of a new coach, Paul Mugford, and the departure of long-time bench leader Joey Ewing. The team is currently 2-11-0-1 on the year, putting them at the bottom of the North Division.
It’s early to say how the Glacier Kings will fare over the course of the rest of the season, but one thing is for sure, wins are in order.
The Glacier Kings will look to turn things around on Friday, October 27th. They hit the road against the Peninsula Panthers.
