COURTENAY, B.C- Thousands of dollars, food donations, and toys have been raised for charity by Vista Radio in Courtenay.
The donation drive took place from December 4th to December 8th, and saw Vista staff from the Courtenay station manning a booth outside the Real Canadian Superstore. The booth was inside an RV from Courtenay RV Specialists, and the donations from shoppers and members of the community were piled up inside the vehicle as the week progressed.
By December 8th, a total of $101,000 had been raised by the station, as part of Vista’s company-wide Million Dollar Charity week.
“A huge thank you to the Comox Valley,” said Andrew Davis, the program director for 98.9 The Goat.
“With your help we raised more than $100000 in donations that will help three local charities. Everything collected here stays here to help local families.”
The donations will be going towards the local branch of the BC SPCA, Santa’s Workshop, and the Comox Valley Food Bank.
In the rest of the North Island Cluster, 1240 The Coast raised $7,000 in Port Hardy. The charity drives in Powell River and Campbell River are still ongoing.
Across the country, roughly $1.2 million was raised by Vista Radio as of this writing.
