LANGLEY, B.C.- A young Comox Valley curler celebrated the Christmas season with a gold medal.
Courtenay’s Jordan Koster, along with teammates on the Reese-Hansen rink from the Victoria Curling Club, finished in first place at the B.C. Junior Women’s Curling Championship on December 23rd.
The team lost their first two round robin games, but regrouped to win seven of their next eight match-ups. That included the gold medal game against Team Daniels of the Royal City/Delta curling clubs.
Team Daniels finished in first place during the season-long British Columbia Junior Curling Tour. They were also the top seed at the end of round robin play at the Langley competition.
Earlier in the event, Team Reese-Hansen beat Kimberley’s Team Buchy 8-7, and Team Bowles of Royal City 7-3. After ten ends in the final against Team Daniels, the two squads were tied 5-5.
In the extra end, Reese-Hansen came away with the victory.
The win secured their spot at the National Junior Men’s and Women’s Championship. They will represent B.C. from January 13th-21st in Shawinigan, Quebec.
Koster, along with two others from the Victoria rink, will represent Camosun College at a national event later this season.
