COURTENAY, BC- The region could see some snow, starting tonight.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Eastern Vancouver Island, from Courtenay to Campbell River, as well as lower regions like Duncan to Nanaimo, and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.
The statement notes that an area of low pressure is will his the South Coast this morning. After the low pressure exits, a cold snap will sweep across the region, potentially bringing snow and a strong surge of Arctic air from the Interior.
The potential for snow will continue into Sunday, as conditions remain cold and unsettled.
Environment Canada’s notice also stated that there is a potential for a wind warning to be issued due to the outflow from southern sections of Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, the Fraser Valley and Howe Sound on Sunday.
The statement said that the Arctic air will linger into the work-week, with daytime highs just above freezing and overnight lows approaching minus 10 in some parts of the coast.
