COURTENAY, B.C.-The effects Overdose Prevention Sites are having on their communities is being evaluated. That includes here in Courtenay.
Island Health is overseeing what it calls a “multi-faceted” process involving surveys of people who use the sites, those who work at them, local government and people who live and do business near them
The goal is to improve the service, which Island Health says is part of its commitment to saving “as many lives as possible in the opioid crisis”.
The evaluations are being done for Island Health’s four suburban and rural sites. The others are in Campbell River, Port Alberni, and Cowichan.
Island Health says roughly 1,000 properties around each site will get a special post card in the mail inviting them to take part in the online survey.
