COMOX VALLEY, B.C.-The BC Government says any personal property left on a campsite will now be removed after 24 hours.
That’s to deter people from trying TO save free campsites ahead of busy weekends. It’s an ongoing problem in the Campbell River, Courtenay and Comox areas.
The government says any removed items will be at the owner’s expense. It’s doing this because warning letters and signs haven’t kept people from leaving their stuff on sites.
The government says the free sites are meant to be used on a “first come, first served” basis.
Affected campsites include Big Bay, Fry Lake, Fry Trestle, Brewster Camp, Camp Five, Apple Point, Twin Lake, Pye Beach, Stella North, Stella Beach and Elk Bay.
Reservations for BC Parks campsites can be made by phone at 1 800 689-09025, or online at this website.
