COURTENAY, B.C. – There’s a new wrinkle to this year’s MusicFest.
The Comox Valley Farmers’ Market will be part of Courtenay’s huge, three-day music festival and can be found this Saturday at the CV Sports Centre.
“The relocation of the Farmers’ Market to the Sports Centre during MusicFest works well for both organizations,” said MusicFest production manager, Cresslynn Brodhagen.
“The move helps to alleviate traffic and parking congestion for both vendors and customers. We’re very appreciative of the cooperative relationship MusicFest has with the Farmers’ Market.”
Vancouver Island MusicFest expects to draw 10,000 festivalgoers each day from Friday to Sunday.
The Comox Valley Famers’ Market usually draws between 1,500 and 3,000 on Saturday mornings.
Moving the Market to the Vanier location alleviates congestion while keeping the market accessible to the thousands of potential VI MusicFest costumers, MusicFest notes in a release.
The Farmers’ Market will be rerouting market customers up mission hill and down Vanier with directional signage so regular customers and new ones can find the market and enjoy the variety of more than 65 vendors, which include meat and poultry growers, fishers, fruit and veggie growers and food processors of all sorts.
MusicFest takes place at the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds from July 13 to 15 with gates opening at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13.
