COURTENAY, B.C. – It’s been a busy July, thus far, for Comox Valley RCMP.
Commotion leads to drug seizure
On July 8, a vehicle was blocking traffic on the 300-block of Anderton Avenue.
When police arrived, they came across a vehicle parked on top of a cement barrier.
An impaired driving investigation was started and when the driver was searched, police located a large quantity of what is believed to be methamphetamine. The driver was also wanted on several warrants out of Victoria.
Yelling for help
On July 11, the Comox Valley RCMP received a call reporting someone screaming for help on Headquarters Road.
A police officer went to the area, heard the screaming, and was able to identify where it was coming from.
The officer entered the location where the person needed help and then located a person in medical distress. This person was offered assistance and the officer ensured their safety before departing.
Drug trafficking investigation
On July 3, members of the Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section arrested a 32-year-old Campbell River woman after she was allegedly observed trafficking drugs from her vehicle.
When officers searched her vehicle, a large quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and morphine were located and seized.
This investigation is ongoing and officers are being assisted by the Integrated Forensic Identification Section.
Charges are expected in the coming weeks.
Fire alarm pulled at police detachment
A woman was arrested on July 2 after she allegedly damaged a vehicle and caused a disturbance on the 100-block of Lerwick Avenue.
The woman was released by police; however, on her way out of the detachment, she pulled the fire alarm.
She was arrested again and held for an appearance in court.
Help from Police
On July 9, 2018 the Comox Valley RCMP received a call reporting an unwanted homeless person in front of a business located on the 700-block of Ryan Road.
Instead of simply moving this person along, the police officer gave them a few first aid supplies and reserved the person a room at the local shelter.
Stolen iPad
On the evening of July 1, an iPad was stolen from a park on Bolt Avenue in Comox. The iPad had been left unattended for a very short time in the park and when the owner went to get it, it was gone.
Drone complaint
On July 3, the Comox Valley RCMP received a complaint of a drone being flown too close to a residence on Hornby Island. The person flying the drone was spoken to by the resident; however, has not been identified.
There are specific rules and regulations which must be followed when flying a drone. (2018-9002)
