CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – Three small wildfires are still burning near the Myra Falls mine in Strathcona Park.
According to the BC Coastal Fire Service, the fires were discovered on Friday evening and crews have been working hard, with the help of two helicopters, to extinguish the flames. The fires are located about seven kilometers west of the Myra Falls mine and are still considered out of control.
Despite their efforts, there was a “little bit of growth” through the evening last night.
Coastal said the fires were caused by lightning in the area.
