COMOX, B.C. – An opportunity exists for people to make some extra cash while at the same time being a key part in the municipal election process.
The next local election is Oct. 20 and the Town of Comox is looking for election officials.
Election officials support the administration and conduct of voting at election proceedings and may be assigned one or more roles including voter registration and ballot clerk, greeter, and/or ballot machine attendant.
To qualify as an election official, you must attend a training session on Oct. 9, and be available to work on general voting day (Oct. 20) between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The positions are open to all Comox Valley residents
Compensation for the day is $275 with an additional $20 for attending the training session.
“If you are a customer-service oriented individual, possess the ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with the public, are detail orientated and able to follow directions and adhere to procedures, 18 years of age or older and are legally entitled to work in BC, we would love to hear from you,” a Town of Comox release states.

Anyone interested is also welcome to drop off a letter at Town of Comox Town Hall, 1809 Beaufort Avenue, Comox addressed to Twyla Slonski.
