COURTENAY, B.C. – Two people were arrested after police nabbed them for driving a vehicle with stolen license plates.
According to Constable Monika Terragni of the Comox Valley RCMP, a vehicle was seen driving in downtown Courtenay on August 1st with the wrong license plates attached to it.
An investigation revealed that the plates had in fact been stolen, but this was yet to be discovered by the owner.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for possession of stolen property and the passenger was arrested for outstanding warrants.
The driver was released from police custody with an upcoming court date.
In another case this month, police observed a motorcycle travelling at a high speed on Ryan Road. The vehicle was moving at 152 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
The driver was stopped by police and issued an excessive speed violation ticket. The motorcycle has been impounded for 30 days.
The RCMP received a report of a suspicious male offering driveway sealing service in the Comox area on August 1st.
The male did not have any identification with him and was approaching different houses in the town.
Police were able to catch the man, who was arrested for breach of probation.
Terragni identified him as Joseph Ouimette. He remains in custody.
