COURTENAY, B.C. – Firefighters and paramedics got in some late afternoon exercise today in rural Courtenay.
Just after 4 p.m., Courtenay Fire Department members and BC Ambulance paramedics hiked down Browns River Falls, where they helped a boy who had injured his left ankle while jumping over rocks.
“The patient was stable and in good spirits when we got there,” Courtenay Fire Department assistant fire chief Kurt MacDonald said. “(He) just needed a lot of equipment and firefighters and (BC) Ambulance (paramedics) to get him up the trails.”
The boy was pulled from the trails to the road where he made his way into an ambulance around 5:30 p.m.
