CUMBERLAND, B.C. – Cumberland’s Space Nugget trail is getting some work done.
The path is part of the Cumberland Community Forest municipal park. Fall maintenance has begun, with initial work focusing on the Space Nugget.
According to the village, work will include:
• Building a 20-metre re-route to by-pass the “lollipop” (located around the mid-point of the trail), as well as decommissioning the existing trail.
• Improvements to water management and drainage.
• Decommissioning select trail braids and informal short cuts.
• Erosion controls, root capping and trail tread upgrades in select locations.
“The work will ensure a high quality user experience while mitigating against negative environmental impacts,” read a statement from the village.
Additional work is also planned for the Lost and Found, Two and a Juice, Buggered Pig and Kitty Litter trails.
