COMOX, B.C. – The Comox Firefighters Association continues to assist in the community.
The association has donated $2,000 as partial costs for two new speed signs installed near Brooklyn School in Comox.
“I am so proud of our firefighters for their support of so many important projects in our community. These speed control signs have proven to reduce speeds in the areas they are used,” said Comox Fire Department Chief Gord Schreiner.
“Reducing speeds makes it safer for all of the road users in that area.”
According to the department, funds for projects like this come from small surpluses from the Comox Fire Training Centre, which is used by hundreds of visiting firefighters every year.
Over the past few years, Comox firefighters have donated over $100,000 back into the community, including the purchase of over 30 public use automatic external defibrillators (AED).
