Over the next decade, we’re going to need over 4000 new forestry workers….that from Jim Girvan, the interim executive director of the Truck Loggers Association.
He says as current workers in the Island Coastal region retire, new recruits are needed to replace them, and he says even more workers might be needed as market demand for lumber increases.
Girvan says they are expecting U.S. and Chinese demand for forestry products to grow in the next few years.
