COMOX, B.C- A man wanted on drug charges was arrested in Comox last month.
According to the Comox Valley RCMP, Jason Dickie was arrested at an apartment in the 600 block of Aspen Road in Comox on January 30, 2019.
He had been wanted on four charges of possession of a controlled substance. He remains in custody, and is facing two additional charges of breaching his recognizance.
RCMP also impounded two vehicles recently, and their drivers have been given fines for excessive speeding. Those include 106 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone on Hamm Road in Black Creek, and 165 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone on Highway 19 in Union Bay.
There were over 60 thefts from motor vehicles in January.
“These thefts have been occurring in Comox, Cumberland, Courtenay, and in the Regional District,” read a statement from the detachment.
“The Comox Valley RCMP are asking for assistance from the public to prevent these thefts. These thefts can only occur if there is valuable property inside the vehicle and an opportunity to commit the theft, such as an unlocked door – if we all do our part to prevent these thefts we will see this number go way down!””
Lastly, a 23 year old man was arrested in Courtenay on January 24th after being found intoxicated in his car.
The arrest took place at 3:20 a.m., in the 200 block of 1st Street, after officers got a call about a man passed out in his vehicle.
According to police, the investigator found the man to be intoxicated when they attended, and in possession of a significant amount of money and what is believed to be cocaine and heroin. The detachment’s drug section assisted with the investigation, and the man has an upcoming court date in Courtenay.
Residents are encouraged to call and report all suspicious people or occurrences, which is what had led to the arrest.
