EASTERN VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C- Snow is falling this morning.
According to Environment Canada, snowfall in the amount of five centimetres is expected today, with a snowfall warning issued from Campbell River down to Nanoose Bay.
A cold front crossing the Island this morning will bring the snow to communities away from the water, and over higher terrain.
It may be mixed with snow at times. Areas along the Strait of Georgia will receive little to no accumulation, while the higher inland areas could see up to five centimetres in a short time.
It should taper off in the morning near Campbell River, and just before the noon hour closer to Nanaimo.
Drivers should prepare for changing road conditions, and if visibility is reduced, turn on their lights and maintain a safe following distance.
As of 7:10 a.m. DriveBC’s traffic cameras showed the highway clear, but very rainy.
