COMOX VALLEY, BC- Stolen mail was recovered from a vehicle at a traffic stop in Courtenay.
On March 29th at the Comox Valley RCMP traffic stop investigators found the driver was prohibited from driving.
When the driver was arrested officers found stolen mail inside the car.
Daryl May has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5000, possession of an identity document and daily to comply with probation.
The mail is believed to be taken from a spree of mailbox thefts that took place in March.
“We are still processing all the exhibits seized during this investigation,” said Constable Holly Carlson, Comox Valley RCMP.
“Anyone who believes they were a victim of mail theft in March should be checking their credit card statements, contacting their bank, and ensuring that their personal information has not been used.”
She went on to say if there is any suspicious activity to contact the RCMP right away.
The Crime Reduction Unit is still investigating the mail thefts.
