AIDS Vancouver Island has a new identity: AVI Health and Community Services Society.
AVI was first founded as a community-based AIDS service and support organization for people living with AIDS/HIV on Vancouver Island.
But AVI has been providing services and support outside of its original scope. For the last 34 years, its services include hepatitis C, harm reduction distribution, overdose prevention services, Opioid Agonist Therapy, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, as well as case management support for people living with AIDS/HIV.
The new identity reflects on the agency’s history of providing care that is integrated and supportive while building on the numerous services currently provided by AVI locations.
AVI Health and Community Services Society promotes health, dignity, and well-being for those affected by HIV, HCV, and substance use through delivering sex-positive and harm reduction based education, prevention, and support service.
The agency has locations in Victoria, Westhore, Nanaimo, the Comox Valley, and Campbell River.
