A Vancouver woman is facing charges after an elderly woman was assaulted in Courtenay.
The Comox Valley RCMP says it happened Tuesday evening in the Menzies Avenue and 3rd Street area. Officers were called there at about 5:10pm.
The RCMP says thanks to several witnesses who stopped to intervene the 32-year-old woman was arrested a short distance away. The victim had minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.
Katherine Devlin is being held in police custody pending a court appearance. She’s been charged with assault and robbery.

The RCMP says there is no evidence to suggest that this assault is connected to the assault about a month ago on another senior in Courtenay.
