Work on Courtenay’s water system will likely cause traffic tie-ups next week.
Starting Tuesday, contractors working for the city will be doing maintenance on the system. They’ll be focused on a section of the Highway 19A Bypass just south of Comox Road. Construction runs from September 3rd to 13th, weather permitting.
Edgett Excavating is completing the work. During this project crews will be decommissioning the old water system infrastructure that is no longer in use. You’ll be seeing single-lane traffic in each direction during construction.
Southbound traffic will be directed to use the two way left turn lane. The city says drivers should expect delays during peak travel periods.
During working hours traffic control personnel will be on site to direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists around the work area.
