It looks like a campfire sparked an early season forest fire in the Comox Lake area this week. Coastal Fire Centre spokesperson Marg Drysdale explains.
Drysdale says Coastal Fire Centre crews doused the blaze, with some help from Cumberland Fire Department crews, adding campfires need to be fully extinguished before you leave the area.
Weather forecasters from several agencies are predicting a long hot summer for the Comox Valley, with the fire danger rating already taking a jump as tinder dry conditions kick in.
