The Village of Cumberland wants to make a move…and that move means separating itself from the Comox Valley Economic Development Service (CVEDS).
The Village took part in the 2014 service review completed by Urbanics Consultants Ltd. and the results reinforced Cumberland’s belief that participation in the service is unsatisfactory and not in their best interest.
Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula weighs in on the situation.
He has some concerns about this, and hopes the Village rethinks their decision.
Jangula goes on to give an example on how all surrounding communities have benefit by economic development.
In a letter to council, the Village says that CVEDS work plans contain certain projects in Cumberland, but are watered down to appease all of the other communities in the Comox Valley.
