The Comox Valley Transition Society has a new project in motion. They’re planning on bringing a 12-bed women’s care facility to the Valley. The Amethyst House would house women dealing with substance misuse.
Goat News spoke with Executive Director Heather Ney, and she says the home is something that is much needed in the Comox Valley.
The group’s proposing that the House be located at the former Laurel Lodge location on 2nd street in Courtenay. Ney says it’s an ideal location.
The Transition Society is working with the staff at Mental Health and Addictions, Island Health and the Ministry of Health.

She added that if a contract can be secured by the end of the fiscal year, the Amethyst House could be open by July 1st.
