The Comox Valley is under an air quality advisory.
Environment Canada says there are high concentrations of fine particulate matter that are expected to last until weather conditions change. These air quality warnings are a regular occurrence in the valley during winter in no small part because of smoke from wood stoves.
If you have a chronic medical condition you’re encouraged to postpone any strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted. The agency says exposure to fine particulates is a big concern for those who are pregnant, babies, the elderly, and people with diabetes and lung or heart disease.
Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce exposure.
