Wanted: new or gently used work boots.
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is in need of good condition, CSA-approved steel toe boots for volunteers at both of its build sites.
You can drop boots off at the Lake Trail build site in Courtenay any time Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00am and 3:00pm, or at its ReStores in Campbell River (1725 Willow Street) and Courtenay (1755 13th Street).
Community engagement coordinator, Alli Epp, said many of the volunteers don’t have the proper footwear at build sites: “Because many of the volunteers are new and green to construction, they don’t come with their own boots, so that is definitely something we could use is new work boots of all sizes..”
Epp said the donations would be much appreciated.
“We’ve just been using really old, worn-out ones that are kind of getting smelly and gross,” she said. “It’s a big expense for us that takes away from building homes if we have to put up the money for it, so obviously donations would be huge because then we have more money to do what we want which is build homes.”
With the help of hundreds of community partners and volunteers, Habitat for Humanity builds homes for local families.
Habitat does not give away free homes — the families pay an interest-free mortgage geared to their income and volunteer 500 hours with the organization.
