The Comox Valley Regional District has hired Myriah Foort to be its new Chief Financial Officer starting in May.
The CVRD says Foort will be joining the team following the retirement of long-standing CFO Beth Dunlop in April. As the CFO, she will lead the financial, accounting, insurance, procurement, asset management and contracting functions for the organization and will be key in implementing the board’s strategic priorities.
Foort says she is excited to work with the team at the CVRD and feels it was the right next step for her career.
“I think the CVRD is a diverse regional district with lots of services for the community. It has lots of exciting projects on the go and they’re also very progressive and high performing so I think its a really great foundation to build on.”
“The long-standing CFO has been there for almost 20 years and she had a really strong framework in place with a really strong team. I’m really excited to join that team and go along with what’s already there. I think this is a really great organization to join and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The CVRD says Foort comes to the role with a diverse background with over eight years of experience working within various financial positions in local government including at both the City of Campbell River and Strathcona Regional District.
CVRD Chief Administrative Officer Russell Dyson says Foort will be a great addition to the team.
“We are thrilled to have Myriah joining our team this May. Her strong strategic leadership, innovative ideas, and solution-orientated mindset will help advance our financial practices and budget processes.”
