BC’s Electoral Boundaries Commission is suggesting changes to provincial ridings on the Island, and 2 new ridings on the Lower Mainland.
The biggest changes will involve the Comox Valley and Alberni Pacific Rim.
Commission Chair Tom Melnick says population growth in the Comox Valley means some of that area needs to be added to Alberni Pacific Rim.
But the Commision rejected adding Hornby and Denman Islands to Powell River Sunshine Coast.

The Commission also wants small changes to the boundaries of Parksville Qualicum, Nanaimo, and Nanaimo-North Cowichan.
No changes are proposed for North Island.
The next steps include public hearings, and input from MLAs before a final report in September.
