Comox council’s adopted an amended version of the declaration of environmental rights.
In essence, the final result of the declaration is to ask the federal government to amend the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to guarantee the right to live in a healthy environment.
Healthy environment meaning breathing fresh air, drinking clean water, consuming safe food, easy access to nature and participating in government decisions that affect the environment.
Comox Mayor Paul Ives gives his thoughts on this and the David Suzuki Blue Dot campaign.
