The first of three open houses for the Comox Valley Sewer Service will start on Thursday.
The meetings are being used to discuss the long-term plan for the system, which moves and treats raw sewage from Comox, Courtenay and the K’ómoks First Nation.
The district says right now it includes a raw sewage pipe that is vulnerable to damage by waves, rocks and logs.
It could pollute beaches and waters throughout the Comox Estuary, Point Holmes and the Goose Spit coastline, as well as Baynes Sound.
The open houses will showcase three possible options or routes for the pipes and pump stations that the district could move forward with.
The first will be tomorrow from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Comox Rec Centre. The other two will take place on October 7th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and October 8th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the rec center as well.
If you want to attend the open houses, the district is encouraging you to pre-register to reserve your spot.
If you can’t make it to the meetings or would prefer to submit your feedback online, the district is also running a survey until October 12th.
