The new year kicked off with a bang for Comox Valley RCMP officers.
On New Year’s Eve police were all over the valley responding to a large number of calls that carried well into the morning.
There were three reports of shots fired and six reports of fireworks before midnight.
Officers also handed out a 30 day driving suspension for someone who was caught under the influence.
Once January 1st came around, officers said they had a report of a break and enter to a fenced compound on the 7500-block of Island Highway South in Fanny Bay.
They believe sometime during the night several statues worth hundreds of dollars and weighing hundreds of pounds were stolen from the area.
Anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour, vehicles in the area, has dashcam footage, or knows the whereabouts of these stolen statues is asked to call police.

On New Year’s Day, the RCMP also found and returned a lost dog to its owner.
A Comox Valley RCMP Bike officer found the dog running in traffic and stopping in the middle of the 5th Street Bridge.
The quick-thinking policeman was able to get a snack from one of the drivers who was stuck in traffic lured the dog into the back of a police truck.
The dog enjoyed his ride in the back of a police truck to the detachment where he waited for his owner to come and get him.
