Luciano Mariani, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Bowser.
Early yesterday morning, the Oceanside RCMP and other emergency responders were called to the 5000 block of Thompson Clark Drive West.
Frontline RCMP officers arrived on scene to find a victim suffering from serious and suspicious injuries. The victim later died.
Luciano Mariani was located at another location by police a short time later and arrested.
“The deceased was known to the suspect, but the nature of their relationship will not be elaborated upon” says Sergeant Chris Manseau, Division Media Relations Officer for the BC RCMP
“The investigation still remains active, as VIIMCU remains on scene determining what exactly occurred and led to this event.”
VIIMCU is working closely with the Oceanside RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the BC Coroner’s Service to gather evidence and complete priority tasks.
The family of the victim has asked for privacy at this time and will not be responding to media inquiries. No further details will be released as the matter is now before the court.
