FEED Comox Valley is part of North Island College’s Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation.
Now the goal of FEED is to bring fresh, local foods into the college cafeteria, Glacier View Lodge and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox.
The pilot project started 6 months ago, which has led to the expansion from the college to Glacier View Lodge and St. Joseph’s Hospital, according to NIC’s Christiana Wiens.
Wiens says the project is funded by an organization based out of Montreal.

Wiens adds students are benefiting from this.
As part of the expansion, hospital patients and long-term care residents will get to eat fresh, local vegetables within 24 hours after they are picked.
