Batten down the hatches, we could be in for a windy one.
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for East Vancouver Island from Courtenay to Campbell River
Southeast winds that could reach as high as 70 km/h, are either expected or are already upon us.
They’re also expected to hit the Sunshine Coast from Saltery Bay to Powell River.
This is all thanks to a vigorous frontal system that’s moving across the south coast, which Environment Canada says will generate strong winds over northern sections of the Strait of Georgia.
The winds over surrounding coastal regions will rise to southeast 70 km/h in the morning and then ease in the afternoon with the passage of the front.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
