A local organization run by Comox Valley nurses is taking donations from businesses to aid local healthcare workers.
Favours for the Frontline is accepting donations from local businesses as gifts to frontline workers. They say anything that shows appreciation will be accepted and may include gift certificates, discounts, video messages and others.
The group will be hosting prize draws per month for workers. They say staff have to be on shift in order to enter and they can only win one prize per year.
Organizer Susanne Bazett says the project is an example of love in the community.
“These past 2 years have been a challenge for us all due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is especially true for our frontline workers,” said Bazett. “Favours for the Frontline was started by Comox Valley Hospital nurse leaders who wanted to work with local businesses and the community to say thank you to our frontline workers at CVH for their courage and exceptional care.”
Eleven businesses have donated to Favours for the Frontline including:

- Inner pursuit Fitness
- North Island Dental
- Islander Pizza and Pasta
- Uplifters Shop
- Bigfoot donuts
- Studio 79 spa, pet grooming
- Finch studios Courtenay
- Hot Chocolates
- 40 Knots Winery
- Reflexology by Karena
