The LUSH Valley Food Action Society and the Comox Valley Community Foundation (CVCF) are working together to establish a fund to encourage young people to volunteer and work in their community.
The Bunny Shannon Legacy Fund’s capital will go toward LUSH Valley over a 10-year period to establish and foster youth programming.
The fund is also honouring Elizabeth (Bunny) Shannon, who was an active supporter of several environmental and social causes in the area.
Shannon served on LUSH Valley’s board of directors for more than 15 years.
“CVCF wishes to thank Bunny’s family, friends and LUSH Valley for choosing to work with us to celebrate Bunny’s legacy, to recognize her significant contributions to our community, and to ensure her legacy lives on,” said CVCF’s president Christine Helpard. “We consider it a privilege and are grateful for their confidence.”
Shannon was also a founding member of the Comox Valley Social Planning Society and was a Comox Valley Schools trustee for 19 years.
