The province’s police oversight agency is looking into a vehicle crash in Comox that left one man seriously injured.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) says the event happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday, just off Bates Road near Seal Bay Park.
They say officers were at the scene of a crash when they saw a BMW slow down and turn around when they saw police vehicles blocking the road.
One officer who saw this got into their vehicle and drove in the direction of the BMW. The IIO says the BMW was involved in a single-vehicle collision a short distance away. They add the driver sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The IIO says they have started an investigation to see if police actions are connected to the collision.
Anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact the witness line at 1-855-446-8477 or use the contact form on their website.
