To help support an upcoming affordable housing project, Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North has announced a month-long auction in Courtenay, starting this Monday.
The auction is for a cottage-style garden shed built by volunteers of the organization. It can be viewed by bidders at the Comox Valley ReStore.
Tudor Davies, a Habitat construction volunteer who helped build the shed says it took five volunteers to build it.
“It was about five and a half days of work to put it together,” says Davies. “It’s a really well-built shed. It’s very sturdy, so you can put it on a trailer or truck.”
The funds taken from this auction will go to a 12-home project on Piercy Avenue in Courtenay. According to Habitat, the project’s goal is to bring safe, decent, and affordable homes to families in the community.
The auction is scheduled from March 6th to March 31st with bidding starting at $500. For more information on where to register and bid, visit Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North’s website.
