Researchers on the BC coast have been encouraging people for decades to report whale sightings… and now they’re getting technology on their side.
The BC Cetacean Sightings Network and the Vancouver Aquarium have released a smart phone app called WhaleReport
Caitlin Birdsall is with the Network, she says the app will allow them to collect better data, and even photos…
The Network says it’s not abandoning the other reporting methods… and people can still call the toll-free phone line, use the web and email, or even track their sightings with a good old fashioned paper logbook.
