The Comox Valley Cycling Coalition will be presenting to Courtenay Council on Wednesday.
They’re focused on encouraging safe cycling as a healthy, economical, and environmentally friendly method of transportation for residents of the valley.
They’re hoping to build a cycling network filled with protected bike routes and arterial routes based on traffic, speed, and roadways. Along with finding new cycling destinations, they are also looking to find temporary solutions in specific areas for cyclists.
They ask from council that they consider adding personnel for active transportation, and increasing maintenance awareness, while working with cyclists on solving ongoing challenges like the lack of proper road markings, and minimal protection if no cars are parked.
The Council Meeting is set for 4 pm on Wednesday, with a live stream of the meeting available on Youtube for the public to watch.
