Some commuters will have to detour around a section of downtown Courtenay tomorrow (Friday) morning.
The city of Courtenay says there will be a major closure downtown for a paving project depending on the weather.
They say 5th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Cliffe and England avenues along with a section of Duncan Avenue between the alleyways on the north and south sides of 5th Street between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Traffic will be funnelled via posted side streets and there will not be any parking in the work zone while the roads are closed.
Traffic control personnel will be in the area to guide vehicles, assist pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles through the work zone. Commuters are asked to obey traffic personnel and signage.
