While the sound of the Snowbirds may be out of the Valley, the rumble of monster trucks will be visiting the area for May long weekend.
According to Saratoga Speedway general manager Pat Monsigneur, the Malicious Monster Truck World Tour is coming from the U.S. to “make some noise.”
Monsigneur says the group of trucks will be competing with one another using materials to build up berms and crush cars, jumping over them for the best crowd noise.
“These folks were here with us last year, they’re coming back this year, and they’ve already told us they are coming back here next year,” said Monsigneur. “This is a pretty high-end group of individuals, with some really impressive equipment.”
The size of the track will play into the hands of show, according to Monsigneur, as the trucks usually perform in an arena. Compared to that, he says the track will give them a lot of room to play and spectators can feel the power of the trucks.
Starting Friday afternoon, the trucks will be there for a “fan fest” with a monster truck thrill ride. Monsigneur says they have a new truck this year for the ride.
“You can get up and close to your favourite trucks, look around during fan fest, and actually go for a ride on a monster truck,” said Monsigneur. “Along with the monster trucks, we’re going to have the FMX global aerobatics team put on a show.”
Tickets can be found online on the Saratoga Speedway website, with seniors, veterans and youth pricing at the box office.
