Six projects within the Comox Valley Regional District will get funding through the province’s growing communities grant funds.
The CVRD board approved the funding totalling over $2.8 million for the projects between 2023 and 2026. They include the following:
- Denman Island Fire Hall Replacement Project (2025): $850,000
- Mount Washington Fire Hall Project (2023): $600,000
- Union Bay Fire Hall Replacement Project (2024): $1,195,000
- Denman Island Cross Trail (2024): $25,000
- Goose Spit Trail (2024): $90,000
- Seal Bay Nature Park (2025/2026): $120,000
The district says the focus of the funds is to help communities build infrastructure and amenities as they grow.
“This is an exciting step forward for a number of major projects within the CVRD,” said Electoral Areas Services Committee chair, Richard Hardy.
“These funds were based on specific program requirements supporting board priorities. We are thrilled to see these investments built into the growth of the Comox Valley and the value they bring towards community development.”
Around $1.6 million is remaining in the growing communities funding. The board says that will be allocated after strategic planning sessions next month.
