Comox Valley RCMP are looking for witnesses or informants in a sexual assault case against a minor from late last year.
In the case a 58 year old man, Richard Zinger, is said to have assaulted the young person while working as a fitness instructor. It is said to have happened between September and December of 2022.
“The fitness instructor was arrested and released on strict conditions including not to have any contact with anyone under the age of 19 without written permission and not to be in a position of trust or authority towards a person under the age of 19 years,” reads an RCMP release on the investigation.
Constable Monica Terragni says police believe there may be witnesses out there.
Terragni says, “We believe there may be witnesses out there with information about these incidents and would like to encourage them to come forward and speak with one of our investigators.”
She says the safety of youth is one of their top priorities.
“The safety of our local youth is one of our top priorities here in the Comox Valley,” says Terragni. “We are committed to working tirelessly to have an environment in which they can feel safe and free of exploitation.”
If you have any information about either incident, you’re asked to call Comox Valley RCMP’s non-emergency line at (250) 338-1321 and refer to file 2023-819.
